Alternative Assignment #5 - Geology of National Parks

In lieu of participating in a fieldtrip, a student can choose to spend about 3 hours searching the World-Wide-Web for videos related to the Geology of National Parks (Coastal Regions). See a lists of national parks at http://www.nps.gov (National Park Service website). Search additional words as a theme, such as beaches, barrier island, coastal features, caves, caverns, glaciers, canyons, fossils; use a geographic region: California, Pacific Northwest, Alaska, Florida, Hawaii, East Coast.

Students can search for videos on on government websites and on YouTube.com.

Upon finding and viewing videos, select at least 10 videos and copy the URLs for inclusion into a e-document or e-mail.

Lab report: Provide the following information about each video

provide a short description of what the video shows related to geology (provide some keywords and geographic location).
How does it begin? (Are people talking? Is there an introduction? Are you first required to watch a commercial?)
How does it end? (Did something happen that alerted participants to change their behavior? Are there credits?)
Your Rating: (excelent, good, OK, boring, no good, or other comment)

Rate which of the videos you thought were the best and most useful for sharing with other students

After viewing and describing the videos, send the information in an e-mail to your instructor before class on the following Tuesday to receive credit for the lab. (Note that Labs count for one-quarter of the semester grade! Video descriptions must be done independently, not copied from the video source information or the work of other students).

Send the information to your instructor at: pstoffer@miracosta.edu - give the e-mail subject the name "Lab3 - Landslides"
