A herd of bison roam in a field in Golden Gate Park.

Golden Gate Park is San Francisco's largest park, comprising 1,013 acres (3 miles long by 1/2-mile wide). After a settlement between the city, squatters, and land owners was approved, the park was approved in 1868. Park development began in 1871.
